To succeed in your claim for negligent medical care we must show two things:

Firstly that the care or treatment you received was unacceptable (negligence).

Secondly that as a consequence of that unacceptable care you have suffered injury (causation).

It is not enough to show that the care was unacceptable without showing how proper care would have improved the outcome, neither is it enough to show that different care would have improved the outcome unless we can show that the case received was unacceptable.

In cases involving equipment or systems failure different, and to a large extent, simpler criteria apply.
