FACTS

Mr R underwent replacement of both hips at one operation.

The operation took an excessive amount of time as further equipment had to be brought from a nearby hospital to allow the procedure to be completed.

Mr R suffered nerve damage to his left femoral and sciatic nerves.

Mr R suffered from mobility difficulties, pain, altered sensation, and developed a depressive illness.

It was Mr R's case that the surgeons should have had all necessary equipment at the start of his operation.

CAUSATION

It was Mr R's case that had his operation been completed within a proper timeframe his nerve damage would have been avoided.
