Helen Niebuhr

Helen is personally recommended as an expert in medical and clinical negligence in the Legal 500 and Chambers Legal Directories as "sensationally good", "determined, knows her stuff and client friendly", and "is vigorous in her pursuit of clients interests".  

Helen joined Darbys when she qualified in 1994 and since that time has specialised in medical negligence and personal injury cases.

Helen is a member of the Law Society Personal Injury Panel and recognised as a senior litigator by APIL (the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers).

Helen is a member of the specialist AvMA (Action against Medical Accidents) referral solicitors' panel. 

Helen is founder of the Oxford Medico-Legal Society.

Helen has particular expertise in cerebral palsy and brain injury cases.

Helen became a partner in 2000 and is a member of Darbys Strategic Management Board. She has a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice Management from Nottingham Law School .

Some of Helen's notable recent cases are: 

· Eccles v Oxfordshire Health Authority - £3,150,000 (cerebral palsy).
 · J.F. v Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust - £1,200,000. (failed sterilisation)
 · Garrigan v South Central Strategic Health Authority £6,600,000 (a sum reported to be the highest lump sum award achieved for cerebral palsy (cerebral palsy)
