Rebecca Hewitt
Rebecca preceeded her legal career in the field medical negligence with a degree in Pharmacology from Sheffield University following which she attended the College of Law in York to undertake the Law Society's post-graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice course.
Rebecca joined Darbys in 2001 as a trainee solicitor and became a member of the Medical Negligence team on qualification. Since then, she has acted exclusively for Claimants in a broad range of cases.
Rebecca's caseload includes cerebral palsy, obstetric injury, delayed diagnosis of cancer and other conditions, surgical errors, hospital infection and fatal cases.
Recent cases of note are EP v Wiltshire PCT, a cerebral palsy case where liability was settled in favour of the Claimant a week prior to trial, settlement of a delayed diagnosis case resulting in infertility of a young mother, and the case of Benterman v Bates and others, which involved the untimely death of the Claimant's father following a routine tonsillectomy.
Rebecca holds the position of Secretary for the Oxford Medico Legal Society and is a member of APIL and AvMA.
Rebecca is married and spends her free time with family and riding her horse, Roger.
