Misdiagnosis, Delayed, and Negligent Treatment of Skin Cancer

The most aggressive form of skin cancer, malignant melanoma, causes 2,300 deaths a year in the United Kingdom.  Delays in diagnosis and treatment and mistakes in treatment can be fatal.

We have helped patients with malignant melanoma skin cancer investigate their treatment and bring compensation claims.  A full investigation can put your mind at rest that you have been treated well and that your prognosis is good, or can result in a claim for compensation to provide you and your family with the financial support you need as a result of the delay in properly treating your skin cancer.

Please do call our experienced medical negligence team for free today on 0800 524 4349, or email us and one of our solicitors will be in touch within 24 hours.

Symptoms and Misdiagnosis of Skin Cancer

Early symptoms include changes in the shape or colour of an existing mole or the development of a new mole.  Moles that become painful, itchy, or bleed can be cancerous.

Your General Practitioner (GP) may fail to refer you to hospital and falsely reassure you leading to delays of sometimes years in full investigation and treatment.

Malignant melanomas are treated by excision together with any necessary radio and chemotherapy.  Mistakes can be made if the mole is not fully removed (beyond the margins of the tumour) or with the administration of adjuvant therapies.

Claiming Compensation for Skin Cancer Misdiagnosis, Delay in Treatment, and Failures in Treatment

Please read in our case studies section about the type of work we do and examples of skin cancer claims.

Our lawyers are very experienced in investigating and bringing claims arising from failures in the management of skin cancer.  It is our job to ensure that your claim is considered by the country's leading cancer experts as well as by GPs.  We will be able to tell you whether your medical practitioners have made mistakes and also the likely consequences of those mistakes.  We are nationally regarded as experts in medical negligence in the Legal 500 and Chambers Legal Directories and by both the Law Society and patients campaigning charity Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA).
